Job Summary

Bigger Hammer Production Services is hiring Stagehands to assist with live events across Southern California. You’ll help with the delivery, setup, operation, and strike of gear used in events such as corporate meetings, concerts, theatrical productions, and more.

Primary Responsibilities

Depending on the assignment, your duties may include:

  • Unload trucks and move gear per client instructions
  • Set up lighting, sound, band gear, and scenery
  • Run, coil, and tape power/control cables
  • Assemble and install design elements (e.g., scaffolding, truss systems, soft goods)
  • Operate as crew during events (spotlights, backline, stage crew)
  • Strike and pack equipment post-event
  • Perform basic troubleshooting or maintenance
  • Report hours (if no Crew Chief present)
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of safety protocols
  • Experience with forklifts, scissor lifts, power tools, and A/V equipment is a plus
  • Reliable judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently under time pressure
  • Comfortable with physical demands: standing, kneeling, lifting up to 75 lbs, etc.
  • Vision: color, peripheral, and depth perception required
  • Must be able to hear and communicate clearly
  • English fluency (spoken and written)
  • Familiar with email, internet use, and basic tech tools
  • Willing to work varied schedules, including overnights and outdoor assignments
  • Must have reliable transportation and be reachable on short notice

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of professional experience in theatrical or live event production (electrical, carpentry, audio, backline, video, etc.)
  • OSHA 10/30 certification is highly desirable
  • ETCP certification is a plus
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
